Daniel Craig, the current James Bond star, has been promoting his sci-fi western, Cowboys & Aliens this week. As a result, a number of clips, quotes and soundbites made their way into the blogosphere. We’re doing our best to keep up with these, and round many of the most interesting up below:
One of the more interesting Cowboys marketing gimmicks was to have director Jon Favreau interview his star, Craig. Inevitably Bond came up in the discussion.
[Sam Mendes] jumped feet first in to it – read every book and soaked up everything about it. I read the script the other day and I’m more excited about [Bond 23] than I was about Casino Royale, because we’ve got a classic Bond movie… plus lots of other things
With so many location rumors circulating it has sometimes been hard to keep up but just recently Daniel Craig let slip to the media that Bond 23 was bound for India. The quote Craig gave to the Telegraph (in India) when prompted for shooting information was:
We are working on the schedule for India and yes, it’s always exciting to play James Bond and this time is no different.
Earlier, Craig let everyone know he was “gagging” to get started on Bond 23 and has said a number of times now how excited by the script and by Sam Mendes’ direction he is. One of the earliest promos for Cowboys was an interview with Extra:
We’ve got a script, it’s fantastic and we start shooting October… November this year for a November release next year,” Craig said. “I’m really gagging to go. I’ve had a break now, and things have come together with the timing of it.
There were also some rumors flying about that he had been ordered to ‘bulk up’ for Bond 23 after looking wiry in the Western, on this matter, the James Bond star simply said:
I don’t have to bulk up much. I’m just going to get fit.
