Bond Back in London for Foot-chase

James Bond 23 crew were back in London this week to shoot an action sequence in Whitehall and in Tower Hill.

The Skyfall team, including current James Bond star Daniel Craig were involved in shooting an intricate foot chase in the capital.

As a twitter pic from @007 revealed, this is sequence 131, that will take place after the underground station scenes filmed earlier in the production schedule.

It is mere scenes away from 134, a night shoot involving the Aston Martin DB5.

More London shooting is planned for February 4th, in and around Vauxhall bridge, near the official SIS building that has long doubled as MI6, Bond’s head office.

Ascot will be doubling for a Shanghai location in “Skyfall”

Reports from those behind the scenes have begun to emerge via the social media networks, including Twitter, that Skyfall is currently shooting at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.

Although it is expected that 007 and his entourage will spend considerable time in Shanghai for Skyfall, scenes are being shot closer to home.

MI6 has tracked down a stealthy behind the scenes photograph that reveals the location that Ascot is standing in for.

Tweeters on location report that shooting at Ascot has continued well into the night with wraps coming any time between 11.30pm and 3am.

Skyfall filming commences at Pinewood – two stars added to the cast list

The twitter elves over at @007 – the official James Bond twitter feed – have been busy!

They are celebrating the start of principal photography with a behind-the-scenes shot of the Skyfall clapperboard. The are shooting in what looks to be a damp, dilapidated bathroom… It might even remind fans of the opening to Casino Royale:

The 007 twitter feed also broke the news that two new cast members have been confirmed: Helen McCrory, the British actress who has recently played in Harry Potter and The Queen will be joining the cast. Also confirmed is Ola Rapace, a Swedish actor known for the TV series Wallander.

James Bond 23 has ‘begun filming’ at Pinewood claims reports

In an article celebrating 75 years of Pinewood Studios, the Guardian claims that Bond 23 has started filming at the historic studios in Buckinghamshire, despite no official announcement.

“I can’t believe we are on number 23,” says Michael Grade, one of the Pinewood bosses. “As a young man for me the new Bond was the hot date film and it is still the same.”

Prior to quoting Grade, the article’s author says: “This weekend the Bond connection is closer than usual, because, although there has been no official announcement, Sam Mendes, has begun filming Bond 23 on site.”

Bond23.net understands that pre-production has begun on the sound stages at Pinewood but cameras have yet to roll.

Bond 23 won’t shoot in India claim local reports

According to a local report, Bond 23 had permission to shoot their stunts in India as of two weeks ago, but last week, decided not to take the option up…

Chandralekha Mukherjee, executive director, information and publicity, Indian Railways gave the following statement to the media today:

The matter was finalised by September 13. But a week later, we were informed that after an international discussion, the production team decided not to shoot in India. We’ve been very cooperative with them. We had ourselves hoped that the movie would be shot here.

A stunt sequence was planned to the trains and a motorbike chase.

An unexpected turn of events in the pre-production schedule, which by all other accounts, is proceeding as normal with Bond star Daniel Craig starting work next week.

Bond 23 earns permission to shoot in Istanbul

According to local reports from the Turkey’s largest city, 007 may be bound for Istanbul.

Turkish Culture Minister Ertuğrul Günay has granted the Sam Mendes-helmed 23rd James Bond adventure permission to shoot in the historic Sultanahmet Square.

Günay told the local presses:

Shooting will start within the next few months… rather than closing the square completely, some parts could be partially closed from time to time for the filming. We have to consider our tourists, but we can accommodate foreign film production companies that want to use Turkey as a platform.

So far it seems Daniel Craig’s third outing as Bond will have nods to Octopussy and now to From Russia With Love.

Shooting on James Bond 23 is expected to commence this November.

Cape Town wants Bond 23 – promises hassle free shoot after Indian troubles

James Bond may be back in India this year but South Africa is a hot contender for some Bond 23 action when shooting starts later this year.

After permission issues held up the production, and according to some sources delayed shooting on location, the South African Film Commission is promising a hassle free ride for 007: ”Cape Town welcomes James Bond whenever he decides to visit us,” said Cape Film Commission chief executive Denis Lillie.

The Commission tells the AP that Cape Town is a real alternative to the Indian West Coast.

“This demonstrates how a film project can very quickly go ‘off the rails’ if the coordination between city and government departments are not in place,” said Lillie, commenting on the railway permission issues Bond 23 is said to have faced.

Dench reveals she starts shooting James Bond 23 in November 2011

Not long after Variety leaked the involvement of Ralph Fiennes in James Bond 23 – the new Bond film, coming November 2012, Dame Judi Dench who will be playing James Bond’s boss, M, in Bond 23, dropped a big hint: shooting on the new 007 adventure will start 12 months before release.

I am going to do the next Bond in November. I don’t know the location yet but hopefully it will be somewhere nice. I can’t tell you much more but I do enjoy playing M as she is such a strong character. I like being bossy and my grandson thinks its cool that I’m in Bond.

Dame Judi told the Daily Express that she will be back in Britain soon for the ceremonial planting of the Hever Castle Rose: “It’s a wonderful place. I have lived around here for 26 years and Hever was one of the first places we came for a picnic. It is unspoilt and quintessentially English.”
