Daniel Craig to start work on Bond 23 next week, claim reports

Reporting from the premiere of George Cloony’s new film, The Ides of March, Showbiz 411 claims Craig is gearing up for the new James Bond film and will start work with director Sam Mendes next week. It was revealed recently that Mendes had blocked in a two week rehearsal period for Bond 23.

Craig told the reporter he starts work on 007 next week, and his schedule includes “a lot of working out”.

Showbiz quizzed Craig on the Adele theme song rumors that have been circulating, he claimed no knowledge of a deal between the film’s producers and the recording artist, but did not deny that the Brit singer was recording a demo.

Daniel Craig was “just getting started” – keen to continue with Bond 23

The James Bond 007 actor has told the LA Times in an interview on the set of his latest sci-fi / western Cowboys and Aliens.

He is certainly optimistic and keen to continue to return to Bond 23 and the James Bond role but news of the new James Bond movie is not even filtering down to Mr. Craig – let alone the fans.

“You probably know more than I do,” Craig said. “It is what it is. Unless MGM can sort themselves out, we can’t make a movie. It’s hard to talk about things that aren’t happening. There will be more to say when things are happening. I’m really keen to get going, it’s as simple as that. And I’m hoping that, in a while, we will.”

“I felt as if we were just getting going and that we’d get the chance to make a couple more,” the actor said. “I’d like to fulfill the circle with the story. But, yes, there is nothing really to say until whoever gets that house [at MGM] in order. There’s no chance of getting it made until those things are taken care of.”

James Bond producers voice opinions in the MGM sale scenario

Barbara Broccoli, co-producer of the James Bond films, has voiced an opinion on how MGM should proceed – or at least according to sources. As Bond fans will recall, MGM’s financial position hangs in the balance with many debt extensions granted by the share holders in the hopes that the big cat’s administrators can get the company back on track and salable.

Now, the Bond producers (who have been, on the whole, silent on this issue to date) are reportedly hoping that Time Warner buy MGM (who own a share of 007). Without a cash injection, such that would come with the purchase of MGM, the EON/MGM Bond producing partnership’s days may be numbered.

Big film names including Spyglass Entertainment, Summit Entertainment and Lionsgate are all in the hunt for MGM, provided the price is right.

At the Blood Stone launch event Michael G. Wilson cheekily mentioned that he wished he was launching a Bond movie.

Daniel Craig bonding with The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo

In related news, Mr. Craig (current James Bond actor) has accepted a lead role in the Hollywood recreation of Stieg Larsson’s popular book.

Some Bond fans are concerned at this point that Craig’s role in the film may leave him unavailable for 007. The key issue will be to resolve one challenge at a time – and Craig is more than entitled to seek roles whilst he can.

Danny Dyer helps to cut EON’s budget by offering to be a cheap James Bond

Danny Dyer is offering to save the James Bond film franchise.

The Football Factory star is offering to play 007 himself, for a cheap fee, after news the Bond films are on hold because the studios are so deeply in debt.

Danny wrote in his Zoo magazine column: “It’s a shame, because I really love the Bond films – but getting me in would help them right out – I’d do it for £200 a week.”

He added: “There’s a Facebook campaign for me to be the next 007 and I’m f***ing thrilled about it. That’s a mad idea, but I think I could pull it out of the bag.

“You don’t need £60m to make a film; most of mine are made for under one million. As long as you’ve got your star man and the right people around him, that’s all that matters. F*** the CGI b******s – go back to the old school. Keep campaigning, lads – I won’t let the side down.”
